The Challenge

Valley Strong Credit Union had performance management practices implemented before WorkDove, but to become the high-performing organization they envisioned, they knew they needed a new platform and process that would match organizational development best practices and allow them to coach and develop top talent. “We wanted to up-level our performance management process to go beyond just the basic annual review,” shared Dr. Cheri Plett, Director of Organizational Development. This included a better way to input and track goals, a formal leadership succession process, more meaningful one-on-ones, the introduction of multi-rater/360-degree feedback, and better performance reviews that included a self-assessment. Valley Strong also recognized their need for better data analytics and reporting goals to make objective business decisions. The same applied to leadership succession practices, a key area for sustainable growth at the credit union. The need for multi-rater feedback stemmed from the desire for Team Members to hear additional perspectives beyond their direct leader. Understanding the business value that coaching and emotional intelligence competencies bring to an organization, Valley Strong identified 360-degree feedback as an avenue to help accomplish this.

Lastly, Valley Strong’s previous performance review process incorporated core values, but it did not evaluate performance objectives or goals in such a way as to identify job competencies and development accurately. Working alongside ADP as their existing HRIS and performance management vendor, they concluded that an integrated third-party performance solution like WorkDove was the next step to help Valley Strong achieve its goals.
